Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported issue - MX LINUX 18

Hi guys,

I was in a process of installing MX LINUX 18. Halfway through (while it was installing GRUB) suddenly the installing windows disappeared and the MX LINUX desktop (with Installer icon) appeared. No other commands. So I restarted the computer and got this black screen of death:

"GNU GRUB version 2.02~beta3-5+deb9u1

Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

grub>"

I tried searching multiple forums and Youtube videos but can't find the answer and I find it a bit confusing. So I apologize if this subject could be redundant. This is my first time installing MX LINUX on my personal laptop with Windows 10 (Lenovo ideapad 100 i3 64bit). Before, I installed Linux Mint on my work PC and it worked fine.

I'm still a newbie to Linux. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi kalamzahab,

Welcome to LQ.

Thank you for marking this thread solved. I'm guessing because you noticed it was a duplicate of https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...-a-4175645249/

Unfortunately marking as solved doesn't lock the thread to avoid any future posts by other members.

In the future, one option is to click the Report button on the problem thread, or post, and you'll get a dialogue allowing you to enter information, such as "Sorry, this is a duplicate, please close or delete."

That will alert admins or moderators more readily and we can close it to avoid confusion.
