Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported issue - MX LINUX 18

Hi guys,

I was in a process of installing MX LINUX 18. Halfway through (while it was installing GRUB) suddenly the installing windows disappeared and the MX LINUX desktop (with Installer icon) appeared. No other commands. So I restarted the computer and got this black screen of death:

"GNU GRUB version 2.02~beta3-5+deb9u1

Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

grub>"

I tried searching multiple forums and Youtube videos but can't find the answer and I find it a bit confusing. So I apologize if this subject could be redundant. This is my first time installing MX LINUX on my personal laptop with Windows 10 (Lenovo ideapad 100 i3 64bit). Before, I installed Linux Mint on my work PC and it worked fine.

I'm still a newbie to Linux. Any help is much appreciated.

It sounds as if the grub install failed, or failed partly.
The standard answer is to boot a rescue USB or CD image and chroot into your installation and re-install grub.
In your case, since it is a fresh install, you could choose to reinstall linux instead. You might try installing from a different image, there may be an issue with that one. (unlikely, but we have seen stranger things happen)

Clearly the first stage installed correctly, it is the on-disk configuration or second stage that seems to be failing.
