mini book,format memory card and load fix for t mobile dongle

1. i have a mini book, linux os,
2. cannot format sd card to load programme from linux helpline at maplin for tmobile dongle fix.
3. the minibook recognises the memory card, but how do i format the card, not fat 32 the instructions said,
4. yes im a newbie, this is new territory.
5. i have a aesus netbook with dongle capability already included and working,well pleased with that, but would like to use the minibook on line too
anyone help please??

For the formatting issue: Use Ctrl+T to call a terminal, type df (with the SD card inserted!) and paste the output here. It's probably /dev/sdaN ("N" being some number) - or maybe "sdb", that's what we've got to find out first.

After that, it'd be pretty helpful to get a pointer as to which fix you mean - URL?
