Minecraft (Vanilla) Strangely Laggy - Linux Mint (i7 5829k + GTX 970)

I recently installed Linux Mint and decided to test some games on it. Everything ran fine as I would like them to except for Minecraft. Minecraft ran at a strangely lower frame rate compared to all of the other games consider the graphics of the game and my computer specs. I'm not sure why this is happening, but it is just for Minecraft. I have already tried to reinstall the game.

Using nvidia-driver-390 (version 390.48.0ubuntu3).

Keruskerfuerst 08-23-2018 01:02 AM

What driver is installed?

Is there a way I can check?

Keruskerfuerst 08-23-2018 01:23 PM

Check with

Code:

lsmod
or

/var/log/Xorg.0.log

Keruskerfuerst 08-23-2018 02:08 PM

Does this game use OpenGL?

This is what came out when I used lsmod: (Yes, I believe it does use OpenGL)

The nvidia driver is loaded and this should give a sufficient framerate (the hardware, you have, is powerful enough).

Can you post /var/log/Xorg.0.log, too ?

Can you test the graphics capabilities with
1. GLmark
2. Furmark
...

Using nvidia-driver-390 (version 390.48.0ubuntu3).

it could be a java issue.
minecraft runs under java.
i'm guessing java provides the rendering also; maybe your version has no opengl support (or whatever is needed)?
maybe there's some "java opengl" package that needs to be installed?
which java version is the default on your system?
