Hello,

I'm newbie on RHEL 6 and I'm looking for drivers about a notebook Toshiba Satellite A350 , and a Desktop PC (as soon i'll identify components i'll write them down)

Can everyone give me some advice about driver download and functionality?
I wouldn't to mess up everything with my laptop and desktop after installing RHEL6. Since i guess the best way to learn about RHEL is installing on your own pc i'm trying to do it.
Can i keep this thread opened about this matter? I think i'll need a lot of help.

I. Erase Windows
II. Installing RHEL6 and drivers
III. Let everything works

I would try it with a Fedora Live CD first if everything works you should not need to worry about drivers.

Generally every issue gets a new thread and issues should be marked as resolved once they are appropriately answered.

Installing Linux and using it is the best way to learn, in many cases; but, it is often suggested that you duel boot after a trial with a Live CD, the duel boot will allow you to complete tasks that are of higher priority while you build up your Linux skills in a system you are more comfortable with.

Unless you want to pay RH for updates/support, use Centos https://www.centos.org/ instead, a free rebuild of RHEL that includes updates BUT not support ... that's what we are here for :)
As above, trialling a LiveCD version of eg Centos should tell you if the HW will work.

Note also that SL (as used by Sydney above) is also a clone of RHEL, but with more extras I believe.. Centos is just a straight clone if that matters.

Issues
 

Hello and first of all, thank you to the both of you.

I installed RHEL, i talked with my co-worker RHCE and he said about CentOS but i'd rather keep RHEL6 for now, i'm just stubborn with that system. Tough CentOS is a clone of rhel.

I made a workaround (i like to twist my mind with problems and i never choose the simpliest way) so

i installed W7 on Virtual Machine Manager (is there a way to raise the videocard RAM? 9 M is too poor)

i'll set up the wi-fi via W7 and i'll use that system as gateway (just to train myself about lan)

so, i thank you for your advice, i'm just stubborn and if i can keep asking about rhel6 i would be very happy anyway.

These days i'm partitioning my disks, then i'll have PVS, VGS and LVS on my desktop.

I'll ask some advice later if i don't disturb.

Desktop pc's are usually most non-problematic with Linux, as you can always change components easily if they are supported poorly, I don't know about laptops. I'd recommend nvidia for graphics, mainly because at least for me its closed source driver works fine and is quite easy to install.

At last, I'm using my temporary rhel code over a virtual machine and i switched to CentOs as server.
