Migrating Exchange mailboxes to Postfix
 

We want to move our mail server from using exchange to postfix but being new to postfix, I'm looking for help on how will I move the existing exchange mailboxes into postfix.

Personally I'd extract all the mail using exmerge and then disable the Exchange mailbox, set up the postfix one. Are the users using Outlook to connect? If so, give them their exmerged PST, etc. I wouldn't want to put their email back in to a server one at a time as Exchange uses one-to-many copies for email storage if multiple recipients are specified in the same domain to save space.

Just a thought.

the one to many issue will still rear it's head for new mail. If storing a MSG multiple times (one for each user) is not an issue for you I would create all your mail accounts then use imapsync to transfer all mail to users accounts on the new server.
