Microsoft Money

Hi

Can anyone recommend a software program like Microsoft Money that is compatible with Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa?

Thanks.

A quick google search shows this as a possibility: https://gnucash.org/ Note, I am using Mint 19.1 also and gnucash is in the software center as a regular install or a flatpak. Docs are there too.

I use Gnucash, but it's not an exact replacement for Microsoft Money or Quicken, rather it's a complete double-entry bookeeping application and the operating paradigm is a little different. If you're not adverse to spending a little time in the excellent concepts and user guide (Gnucash docs in repository) you'll find it will probably do everything you need.

If you're just looking for cash management (checkbook, credit cards, simple loans), take a look at homebank which is also in repository.

Try kmymoney:

https://kmymoney.org/

That's probably the closest drop in replacement. It's available in the ubuntu repos so I assume it is also available in Mint:
Code:
sudo apt install kmymoney

I discovered Home Bank and it fits my needs perfectly. Gnucash was too complicated, the dual backup is not for me.

One of the podcasters on the Sunday Morning Linux Review speaks very highly of KMyMoney.

Microsoft Money

Hi folks

Thanks for the input, I've downloaded all three programs and I'll give them a go. I suspect GnuCash may be above my level of competence, although I can see it would be very useful to accountants.

Cheers.

I have a friend who has accounting experience. He had no problem with GnuCash. But I never really figured it out. One that I kinda like is Grisbi, it seems to be more beginner friendly I've never run Microsoft Money so I don't know if it compares.
