Messenger capable of recognizing both yahoo AND hotmail addresses on a single network

Hi folks,
I apologize if this has already been addressed, but after searching and searching I'm still struggling to narrow the issue down from a general yahoo/winlive messenger issue into what I need.

Here's the deal: I have a hotmail account, which I utilize to access the Live messenger network. I have a contact who is a yahoo account, which in Windbloze Live messenger is able to recognize (since yahoo and M$N networks are interchangeable.. sort of..) but I've spent far more time than I should have trying to locate an equivalent in Linux.

I love gaim, but it fails to recognize a yahoo contact when I'm logged in through my hotmail, and vice versa. I've tried a bunch of others, but all have had the same problem. Does anyone know of a Linux messenger that is capable of recognizing the yahoo/hotmail interchangeability on the Windows Live Messenger network?

Hopefully this makes sense.

-A

P.S. Why don't I just use a yahoo email and converse with them through gaim, you ask? Because I'm gd-stubborn. ;-) I've latched onto this, and I want to find a solution if it kills me. Or at least makes me scream hysterically.

Kopete appears to be incapable of interoperability as well.

Anybody know of one that might be?

AFAIK, that's a relatively new feature in Windows Live Messenger (correct me if I'm wrong), so just give it a bit...if it's important enough it'll be addressed by open source messengers.
