messed up on kernel 2.6.0

I've compiled kernel 2.6.0 on my system and now the machine won't boot correctly, I skipped over one thing during the installation of the kernel guide "mkinitrd" because I just flat out didn't have that file; Is there anyway to recover this ?

You are probably going to have to use a boot disk to boot.

I don't know if the installation guide has this, but there is a rule you should always follow when installing a new kernel. Leave the old kernel as a boot option!!! This way if the new one doesn't work you can still boot the system with the old one!

Now, tell me what the error message is, you shouldn't need to mkinitrd with slackware.
