Mepis installation
I just burned a live CD from SimplyMepis-CD_8.0.12-rel_32.iso. All went well, but I can't find the installation center so that I can fully install it om my computer. I can login with demo or root, but I don't know where or how to set up my machine. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you for any help.

I've not used MEPIS, but I did find this link. Is there no icon on the desktop that looks like the one in the link I am giving you?
Frank.

Thanks for replying Frank,
No there is not. I have Ubuntu on my laptop and I thought I'd try different distros out on my desktop. So far they (Suse, Debian, Fedora etc.) have all been easy to install. It boots up nice with the Welcome to Mepis Linux 8 screen but there's no Installation Center anywhere.

Strange. Are you able to take a screenshot, save it to a USB stick, and post that?
Is there nothing on a menu?
I am an Ubuntu user myself, and I've never had an issue with installing from a Live CD. The icon for installing is quite visible, as I am sure you are well aware.
Any info in the MEPIS forum about this?
Frank.

Everything seems to be there. The panels have their icons and all the drop down menus work, but there is nothing on the desktop except the wallpaper. I downloaded 8.015 last night and it has everything on the desktop. Thanks for you help.
Consider my problem solved.

Aha! Must have been an error when they put out the Live image. Getting a more recent image corrected it.
Glad you got it resolved.
Frank.
