Mepis 8.0 Installation Problem

I am new to Mepis, and new to the website. FOr some reason, when I install Mepis, after I try to reboot it, it won't boot into Mepis. I've apparently installed it twice, and each time it hasn't booted into Mepis. And when I boot it up using the cd, I have to install it all over again. Has this happened to anyone, or can anyone help me?

PS...very new to trying to figure out computers.

After you install and reboot, exactly what happens? Do you have any other operating systems on this computer? Can you load the Mepis CD without installing and open a terminal/konsole and log in as root (su or su -) and type the command "fdisk -l" to display partition information (that's a lower case Letter L, not a one). Post the output here.

Did you buy the CD, from a mag or burn it yourself?
Have you partitioned your HDD ext or are you VMare?
What is your RAM and age of your box and graphics card?
Look at Forum FAQ to give essential info so people here
may be able to give assitance. Mepis should be easy to install though.
