Memory Hog?
I'm running RH9 with KDE 3.1 and the system monitor is showing that 240 megs of memory is being used after a fresh reboot I have a total of 512 . I turned off all unecessary services also. What am I missing? Are there other processes that I am not aware of that take up huge ammounts of memory or is this just part of KDE?

Linux is probably just doing it's job very well managing it's memory. It works differently (and better) than the popular OS memory management.

Try Gnome, I have read somewhere that KDE applications require more memory than other Graphical desktop environments...also a lot of people seem to be complaining about redhat 9 to be slower that other/previous versions.
