Media Player


Hi is there a good reliable media player out there? that can play mp3's. none of the default ones can play mp3 . fc4. sad sad sad. i have all the partions installed btw. it was a complete installation of fc4. so if there is a default media player that is hidden and plays mp3s please tell me!

mp3 decoders are encumbered by a lot of IP issues these days. That ignored, xmms should have an mp3 decoder plugin.

Wow, I haven't seen a media player that didn't take MP3s...
Anywho, you may get xmms to work, or you could also try looking up kaffeine or mplayer. Yes, they are mainly video players, but they handle audio also. Don't forget to get all the codecs for it that you can.

Mp3;s as many here know have an issue with many distrobutions (including Fc4) for legal reasond and as such when you install you need to D/L and enable support for .mp3.

Why this is so for some and not others is beyond me. I myself would not install a distro that did not support .mp3 out of the box... it only shows their willingness to cow-tow to the music industry...

In any case... get the needed updates and your mp3's should play fine...
