Question md5 checksum and NVIDIA kernel module!

Hello ,

I downloaded mandriva linux 2006 iso files , then i burned them on CDs , then i installed it but i had problems during installation like "No hdlists found." and "cannot install Xorg" but i kept playing around when i got those messages and i passed them ( i don't know how ) .
The problem is that now when linux boots then i enter the login and pass then type kde to enter into kde , kde doesn't open , lots of lines are displayed then at the end i remember this line "Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module!"
then it tells me you can look at the log file /var/log/Xorg.0.log
i managed to open the file from windows , but i don't understand anything in it.
if anyone wants me to paste the text in that log file i can .
also i don't know that commands to enter into Gnome or IceWrn , so i can't do anything .

something else , i think maybe the CDs are not good , i already burned the iso files on CDs and deleted the iso files , is there a way to make the md5 checksum on the CD that already been burned ? or it has to be on the iso file ?

Hi,

Did you install Mandriva to an empty/unformatted disk?

Did you partition it yourself?

Well if it went so bad from the beginning i suggest you do a clean install after formatting the disk remembering to also format the MBR.

What type of hardware do you have?

Yes, i installed mandriva on an empty unformatted hd.

When i got to partitioning part in installation , i chose "use free space " , but it didn't work , so i chose "custom partitioning" and i made three partitions : the first is 3GB journalized fs - ext3 with mount point / , the second is 500MB swap , the third is 500MB journalized fs - ext3 with mount point /home

after that it continued installing .

hardware i have :

intel 1GB proc.
384 SDRAM
80 GB hd ( i unplug this hd if i want to boot into linux )
4 GB hd ( i use this one for linux )
ASUS GeForce FX 5200 256RAM
Acer NIC
Creative AudioPCI ES1371 sound card
