MBR is corrupt GRUB is lost

Earlier I had made a post regarding losing my grub as the MBR was removed when i had to reinstall my Win98 which got corrupt.....

I got good response from the ppl... As i had no boot floppy I used the Disc1 of RH9(total 3discs) There at boot i used the linux rescue to try and resuce... there it detected my earlier settings ... it advised me to type chroot/sysimage and exit to make it root ...

I need some info regarding what is exactly happening here as The operation is not sucessful and I am not able to get the GRUB back.... also the exit option above has to be executed twice.... to exit and restart after the chroot command,... is that a problem????????

I HAVE TRIED ALL THIS MORE THAN ONCE. so please tell me what else can be done to retrive my redhat

regards,
satish

Have you tried using your rescue disk and typing: grub

then type: install /dev/yourbootpartition

I guess I'm talking suse here. When I boot into rescue, I just type su then enter than get the prompt.

The type grub. What happens when you type grub?
