Maximum number of files in a folder in Linux

We use Reiserfs in our Suse Linux partitions. What is the maximum number of files which can go in a single folder for linux.

Also, will be be difficult to access these files if there are too many ?
This is for a weblogic on linux app.

If you read the wikipedia article

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReiserFS

you will find that the number of files is limited only by the free space on the file system.

According to that article, the limit is 4 billion files, and I doubt the OP will get to that limit any time soon
