Question max number of tty


Hi i have found the following selection in the kernel reconfiguration menu...

Maximum number of Unix98 PTYs in use

The default value is 256. I want to know what these selection provides... and if is necessary to have such a big number....

And again...

Mate, you have signed up about 1.5 years ago,
and apparently have NEVER even tried to find
an answer yourself...

cd /usr/src/linux/Documentation
grep -R PTY *

:P

firstly i would like to thank u for your reply.....

"grep -R PTY *"

There is no such parameter i used -r instead and returned nothing...

Any new idea?

Sure ... upgrade your grep, and/or install proper Linux
kernel sources.
I had 47 lines of hits, admittedly 4 of them weren't related
to PTY's ...
