matrox g200

I've recently installed debian , everything seems to work except for the gui (i've chosen gnome) failed to start.

I've got a Matrox G200 AGP
I can select this during setup, but still doesn't work. I've tried using lspci to see what the bus id settings should be , but it seems that (when i reconfigure xfree86 using the command dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86) that its not possible to choose an AGP device.

Does anyone know what i should do to boot into the gui.

Thx ,
