Mass Rename

I need to append the extention off about a 100 files in a directory (i.e. if the file is named File.OK it needs to become File). I've been searching and trying to get this to work a number of different ways, but with no sucess.

I almost forgot the main problem was that most of the file names contain spaces, and that seems to be causing most of my problems.

So I need to get a way around the spaces in the file name and remove the extention.

I believe you need to write a small shell script to do this.
Something like:
List the files, then for each file, search for the last ".*", and rename the file.

That's basicly what I was trying to do doing (in BASH), but I got it done with a quick C program I just wrote.
