Question Many questions-Problem installing program from CD & miss windows desktop management++

1. I have a cd with software belonging to my webcam. I installed it in my computer on windows and it worked fine. But now I can't run the setup or install and install the program on my Xubuntu.

How can I do this in terminal?

2. I miss the desktop management from windows, where I could change colour, theme, settings and background picture, and I could move icons around or make new folders just by using the mouse. How can I get this in Xubuntu?

3. Is there somewhere a manual called "Xubuntu for dummies" and where can I get that or equivalent literature?

4. Where can I get more fonts for open office?

5. In an old version of publisher, there was something called border art.
Where can I get that, both a similar program for making cards and calendars, the border art, and other galleries?

lots of questions from newbie, plz help

You can't. If you have been supplied with windows programs, they run under some version(s) of windows and they may run under Wine. Or they may not.

Using linux, its a better idea to explore using linux programs. Have you checked what the software installer makes available?

If you want free fonts, search on 'free fonts' in your favourite search engine. You'll find a few sites with thousands of fonts (mostly ugly...but there you go). Also check out 'liberation fonts' which have been arranged to have the same metrics as some popular MS fonts.

You can also pay for fonts, if you want.
