mandriva sound problem

im using a sound card Cmi8738-6ch but im not hearing through this im hearing through default mother board ports only
when im seeing in sound mix i can see both sound devices name
any one help me out

Ok, if I understand you correctly, you installed a second sound card in a system that has onboard sound?

If you only intend on using one sound card did you go into the BIOS and dissable the onboard sound?

Mandriva setting up two drivers leads me to believe you never dissabled the onboard sound.

Also this may sound stupid but did you make sure you have the speakers pluged into the new card you intend to use?
