mandriva/kde gui login issue
 

I've installed mandriva spring 2007 on my laptop about three times now, and have run into an unexpected problem. I can now no longer login with the gui, "Login Failed". I can, however, login thru console, then startx, and hit the mcc to look at the configurations, logout, reboot, and viola...I cant't login thru gui. I now that root+password and me+password works in the console, but nothing on the graphic side...any thoughts? Thanks!

Try uninstalling kdm and reinstalling it. kdm is the graphical login manager for kde. You can also look in mcc>System>Choose display manager and see if you can use gdm instead of kdm.
