mandriva ...error code..

Hi dear friends
Sorry to bother you and to take a part of your precious time. But I need your help.
1-I work on Windows xp SP2 on Partition C ntfs with 20 GB and an additional partition d 14 GB fat. It is OK. I do all most of my work here.
2- I installed Red Hat Linux 9 on partition e with 22 GB fat. It is OK. I train myself on this operating system. I try to grasp the options, commands, and instructions.
3-I have the fourth partition F with 24 GB fat empty. I could not or I do not know how to use it for Red Hat. Should I merge it with E to make one partition with 46 GB for Red Had or it is possible to run it without merging.
4-As partition is empty with a big space, I decided to install Mandriva Linux Power Pack 2008 on it. I installed Mandriva and everything had gone easily without any errors as it seemed to me. Finished, it ejected the cd to reboot. Yes, but booting began and after a while it hanged (freezes). I tried again and again with the same error. I tried to read what was written in the (Verbose Mode) it was written the following: (Error Code +ox72/ox78), really I do not know what it means. Kindly please tell me in simple way because I am new to GNU/Linux.
Thank you again. Best regards.
Yours sincerely,

Let me start by saying I have no idea what this code is about so if someone else can help him...

I just wanted to help you with a couple of other things.

First of all, It would be easier if you talked in terms of disks and partitions rather than drive C,D,E,.. This will help us get a better view of how your system is setup. You could have 'extended' your redhat installation by just formating your 'F' drive or leaving it in fat32 and just mount it (man mount).

I wouldn't install several distros on one box. If you are learning, start with one easy distro like ubuntu/kubuntu and get the basics under your belt.

I hope this helps a bit even thouh it does not answer your question.
