restart X? Logout of your session. On the mandriva login screen there is a drop down menu of choices. One choice is to restart X. Select it, then after X restarts log back in.

I imagine this is the same for KDE as it is in Gnome, you can hit ctrl+alt+backspace and this will restart X. Just log back in.
