Mandrake to Fedora- Red Hat

This is a query about distro migration.

I am running Mandrake 2006 sucessfully on my laptop dualbooting with Winbdows XP Pro. I want to install Fedora6 in place of Mandrake, Mandrake uses LILO and I believe Fedora uses Grub, does anyone know if the installion with replace the bootloader happily so I can still run XP?

Many thanks

Grub will overwrite LILO if you make sure that the option to install it to the MBR is selected (this is the default).

Should be no problem--the Fedora installer does a good job of detecting other OSes and setting up GRUB.
If you can afford the space, leave some of the drive unpartitioned so that you can try other distros or setup special data areas.

Wireless Problem

Thank you pixellany and Redazz.

I installed FC6 successflly but in booting I get the message

"ipw 2200 device eth1 does not seem to bhe present, delaying initilazation"

So my wireless net is not working!!!

This works fine with my dual boot XP, and worked fine with MandrivaFree6 after I put the driver files in lib/firmware - but not this time.

My sound card is also not working properly but that can wait, not so important.

Man thanks guys. Mark
