Mandrake Single Network Firewall 7.2

Question, when I put the CD in and reboot it starts going what looks like the same installation when I put Mandrake in with the exception of saying something about Security and having a different back ground. It also offers some choices about setting my security level. I decided to quit the installation because It was asking if I wanted to reformat certain drives and wanted some questions answered before I installed it.

Will this overwrite what my original installation put in? I don't want to have to reinstall KDE3 and every other program that I have installed already.

Thanks

Done it....

Yes..it will replace everything on your h/d. It is a server/firewall and will not function as just a firewall on your linux distro. I totally wiped mine out with it, when I first started with linux.

so......

Would installing ipchains or iptables be a good idea instead of Single Network Firewall?

And thanks for the info.

Yes!

If your running a lan or directly hooked up to the cable modem / dsl modem it is highly recomended that you use iptables/netfilter.

http://www.samba.org/netfilter i beleive is the home. not sure tho. anyway, it has tons of info on how to get started, how to NATanize your lan and such.

It's definetly recommended. Without a firewall, you'd bee suprised what kind of dangers you can run into.
