Mandrake shutdown
Im running Mandrake 9.1. everything has been fine for upto now. But now when I try to shutdown from KDE the machine closes fine then hours later reboots itself.

The last lnes output during the shutdown sequence are:
power down

Is this right? if not how do I change it?

You need to enable apm or another power mode to have you machine shutdown when shutting down, etc.

Thanks for the reply.
Next question.
How do i do that, is it a built in service or do I have to download it?

You may have guessed I am a newbie :newbie:

in the "services" bit of mandrake control cnetre, make sure apmd is set to load at boot time. if it's not listed, try
# urpmi apmd
also, i have this problem on one machine, it's occasional and I tend to just shut down and kill the mains switch when linux says "power down" - it ain't ever done me no harm...but then that PC's PSU is pretty screwed up, and it is rather broken...also the only machine in my house with windoze as well...
