I am complete newbie, having installed Mandrake 8.0 for first time three days ago. I cannot get many of the desktop apps in either Gnome or KDE to print, although Konqueror (browser) does work. Whenever I run through the print configuration program and get to the printer test, it works fine. Please help.
Thank you for replying. I have run through every configuration scheme I could find that relates to printing, and most of the editors and browsers will now print. Galeon will not, and gives the message, "Not Yet Implemented." Does this mean it's not configured properly, or does it mean that the program itself lacks a working print function?
If the rest can print then I think that Galeon has not been coded to print pages yet, although a quick look at their web page, or an e-mail to the developers may give you the answer.
The problem has changed, but persists. I now find that every time I boot into Linux, I must run Mandrake Control Center to set up the printer, or no app will print; once that's done, everything seems OK. I think the trouble is that the CUPS server is not running, and that the setup process somehow starts it. Please, is there a way to get CUPS running on boot-up? Thank you.
