mandrake on lap top - xserver uses a lot of CPU...

I have recently installed Mandrake 9.2 on my laptop, a HP Omnibook 4150 ( PII, 256 RAM) and I have a few problems with it... The most annoyning and apparent one is that the xservers takes 100% CPU when ever I open a new window, move windows, scroll up or down.... and so on. It slows everything down. I did not have this problem with windows or Red Hat.
I am quite new to Linux and don't really know where to start searching for the problem... Could it be that I need to install some driver for my videocard? Or should I change some settings? Which ones?
