Mandrake Linux-Install error-language select
Every time I try to install mandrake 9.1, while choosing language I get an error :
"An error ocured kaymap iotl failed (0 1 6912): Invalid argument. " Please help |
Did you download the cds? If so did you checksum them before and after burning?
Do you have a normal qwerty keyboard? |
Hmmm I didn't checksum...
Yes, it's a normal qwerty |
Well if the problem happens every time, I suggest checksumming. You already have the tool required with Slackware. :)
|
please tell me how :]
come on, everyone was a newbie, don't laugh :) |

I've never had to do this coz I'm stuck with a 56k modem. Remember man command for more info on how to use it. :) |
The checksum is the same :(
|
Did you burn the cds quite fast? Maybe check the after-burning disk too?
Which language choice causes this error then? |
I'll burn it again @ 16 (not @ 48 like i did :] )
and i'll see if that will help. I tried every language. Inc. English, Polish and German. |
Every language? Then I'd be thinking the cds are naff :)
|
not every one :) 5 or so.
Anyway the slow-burned cd didn't help. oh i forgot to say that it's a ppc version (does that matter) ? |
of course i'm trying to install it on a ppc (iMac)
|
Ok, erm... you got the ppc cds right? Is the keyboard old or had any problems before? Do any keys light up during install/is it responsive?
Is ' kaymap iotl failed' polish? What's an english translation? Have you tried using a Mdk mailing list or some other way of contacting the staff or makers of the cooker development releases? Btw, some very good help for reading and writing cds. :) |
'keymap iotl failed' -> it's not in polish
I'm just gonna have to buy myself a cheap pc and make a slackware server on it. :( Thank you for help |
It's ioctl, I googled that error, and got a Mandrake message.
Try carrying on with the install, and then switch keymaps. :) |
