Mandrake ISO Problems

I downloaded all three Mandrake ISO - then extracted them to a folder> I then took CD Creator 5
and burned them to a CD. It comes up in Vendow$ saying would you like to
install Mandrake I said Yes and it proceeded to reboot the machine ,
and look on CDROM for boot file. It did not find one and proceede to boot
back into XP.
My Bios is set to Boot from CD first.

> Did I do something wrong here?

> I think I used the ISO converter right? (no Help files here)

> Would like to get this installed first without buying another version
of Linux.

When I got the RedHat ISOs I found that Nero did the job perfectly, it took the ISO's and converted/read them itself. I had previously tried a prog called ISO Buster and "Easy CD Creator 5" with no luck.
(i was using Nero in demo mode so no need for purchase if you havent already got it http://www.ahead.de )

Hope that helps....

What do you mean by 'iso converter'? You should not need to do anything with the ISO files. You simply download them, check that they are all OK (use MD5SUMMER in Windows) and burn them to the CD as an image, rather than as a file.

If you have two CD-ROMs, it might only boot from one, so put try putting the disc in your other cd-rom(if you have one)

THanks Mates I will give this a try. So I just have burn ISO itself to the CD.
I will try the Nero Ihad copy of it at one point but like most Vendow$ software you get tired of it screwing things up.

Ah life was much simpler like when all we had to do was go out hunt for meals.... Now we are slaves to our own devices and we wonder if this was the
way life was ment to be........

Yes, all you do is burn the ISO to a CD. However, do not burn it so that when you access the file from Explorer all you see is 1 file. In EasyCD you need to go to the file menu, and select 'burn CD from image file' or something. By default it won't look for .iso files, but it'll work anyway.
