I'm installing Mandrake 9.1 on my laptop, or rather trying to . When I try installing it it works well for a short time, then it gets to a black screen with a blue window, which says something about the PCMIA card or slot. Then it just stops, the caps lock light starts flashing, and it says "kernel error". It doesn't matter whether my wireless card is in or not, it still comes up with the same error.

I know this is vague but I was wondering if anyone had this problem and thus how to get around it without my needing to try again and take notes. I'll be happy to do so though if necessary. Thanks for the help.

okay, I felt bad not putting in details. the part it hangs up on is "Enabling PCMCIA extension cards...". Then it displays "Bank3:b4000000000000083"

"Kernel panic: unable to continue"
