Well, I'm stumped. And yes, I did search the forums and I couldn't find anything on this one.
I successfully used my Mandrake CDs to install Mandrake on my Dell Latitude C840 but I'm having problems on my home system.
It's homemade with the following stats:
P4 2.4C @ 3.3GHz (280FSB)
4x512MB Corsair XMS PC-3500CL2 memory
2x160GB Seagate SATA drives in RAID 0
Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb
Creative SB Audigy 2 Platinum Ex
It currently has 4 partitions:
266GB NTFS (Main drive)
2GB NTFS (Windows SWAP)
30GB Ext3 (Linux Main)
2GB Linux Swap (Linux SWAP)
So here's what happens:
I start up the system with the linux CD in it. It boots into the Makdrake installer and the first screen pops up where it says to press F1 or just press enter.
If I press enter, the screen goes blank and just stays that way. If i press F1, I get the text menu for choosing what kind of installation I want but if I press enter or vgalow there, I get the same thing. I can only assume that the expert graphical interface would have the same problem.
So, what is the possible problem? It looks like a problem with the graphics system. I need to turn off my OC as well as that might help but I can't imagine how it could be causing this problem.
Any ideas? I really wanted to get it installed tonight so I'm annoyed
