Angry Mandrake error messages

Why do I keep getting all these error messages?! The first time I booted to Mandrake Linux everything was fine. Then the second time I got this error:

Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: unknown protocol 'file'

After I received this message it opened up KDE but there weren't as many programs and I couldn't really do anything so I shut it down.

The second error message appeared after I rebooted:
Could not read network connection list.
/home/liesl/.DCOPserver_localhost__0. Please check that the dcopserver is running!

After that I rebooted under my login but got the following message when Linux boots up:

Shutting down NMB Services [Failed]

What in the world is going on? Ughhhh, this is soooooo frustrating!!

howdy. The easiest way to correct problems that I have found
is to simply start the install from the beginning again. This is coming from a relative newbie, I donīt know the console very well and my networking skills are rudimentary at best, but my last install has been running pretty smoothly for the last 6 mos.
(few anomalies but not too nasty) so good luck to you.

Now when you say reinstall, do I have to uninstall what I've already done or do I just pop in the discs?

Check you havent turned off the 'Network' service in the Mandrake Control Centre first.

To reinstall, just do exactly what you did to install, dont pick upgrade, and select to format the partitions before installation as usual.
