Unhappy Mandrake 9 - No acceptable cc found


I am a Newbie and am trying to install AMSN for mandrake 9.0
but this requires tcl/tk to be installed, so i downloaded it and tried ./configure
and it checks for something called gcc and says no
and checks for cc and says no
finally it say no acceptable cc found in $path

i have tried to extend my path settings but still i don't know how to get my gcc or cc workin'

pleesh can someone help meeeeee!!!!!!!!

matter of fact i don't know where any of the c compilers are kept or how to make them active all the time.........

You just install them and they are active. So, most likely, you don't have one installed. You can urpmi one in:
urpmi gcc
With root in the command line, OR go through the trials and tribulations whichever way you'd like.

Beware, it's a pain in the A$$.
