Mandrake 9.2 user login problem....
I installed Mandrake Linux 9.2 just a few days ago. I logged into Mandrake using my root password and also my user password and both worked fine. I then installed some drivers for my sound card and everything was working great. Today I tried to login as a user, but when I do so the X-server restarts and I am back at the log in screen again. I am able to login into Linux as a root user, but for some reason I can not log in as a plain user. I tried adding and deleting users from within root, but the problem still persists. When I log in X-Server just restarts and I have to enter my username and password over and over again, but I can never get login as a user. Any help you be appreciated.

Go into /var/log and look for a file called XFree86.0.log. from a consol do cat /var/log/XFree86.0.log | more and it should give a reason why it won't allow login. If XFree86.0.log is not there do a search.

TigerOc has rigth and if you find nothing try in the log of your login manager. For example, if you use xdm have look at /var/log/xdm.log
