Mandrake 9.2...CDRom wont autodetect

I have the 3 cd set of Mandrake 9.2. What I want to do is keep XP on my current HDD, but install Mandrake9.2 on my second HDD....The 2nd HDD is formatted and ready for use. Whenever I run the Mandrake 9.2 CD in XP it opens the install window. This was just a test by me to see if my CDRom was actually reading.

When trying to install Mandrake 9.2 on the other HDD I have the 2nd HDD set as the master (actually totally disconnect the 1st HDD w/XP) I reconfig the BIOS to Boot from CDROM first, but it will never recognize that the Mandrake CD is in the drive, I keep getting an error telling me the hit Ctrl_Alt_Del to restart.....why will it not recognize the CD?

It could be that the CD ROM isn't bootable. What program did you use to write the ISO?

Why did you disconnect the drive with XP to install?

Just leave them both connected, and choose hdb instead of hda to make you partitions and all.

This should allow you to boot both, unless i am mistaken, never done a 2 drive install.

Is it possible to test the CD to see if it's bootable? I can boot just fine from Mandrake Linux 9.2. I can't install it, but I can sure boot from it.

Good luck!
