Mandrake 9.2 blackbox xfree problems
I have a dual boot XP Pro and mandrake 9.2 (seaperate hard drives) I have mandrake installed and running with the gnome gui but I am wanting to install blackbox. At first I didnt install the developer tools or what ever but I reinstalled mandrake witht hem and now whaen i try to configure BlackBox ( ./configure ) it goes all the way until the all dreaded "Blackbox requires X Window System Libraries and headers" I searched about 10-15 forums and went through all 3 install CDs installing all rpm's that included "Xfree" in the file name hopefully to install something that wasnt installed. Still the same error. I am all out of solutions and really didnt want to ask for help, but.....
Help me please? :-) Only thing i could think of was the the xfree that came with mandrake 9.2 is not compataible with blackbox 0.65 Thank you much - jonathan |
a shot in the dark here...you can do one of two things:
- install the xfree-devel and contrib packages ...maybe libxfree86-devel-4.3-23mdk and X11R6-contrib-4.3-23mdk I think. this might let your ./configure step finish (If not, then its a problem with ./configure not finding installed stuff..which is a whole other issue) or: you can use URPMI and as root do: urpmi blackbox which is 0.65 on mandrake 9.2. (a little advise: the urpmi option is a LOT easier...unless you have a specific reason for wanting to install from source, which is cool too) |
