Mandrake 9.1 Installation

Ok, after several attemp to get RH9.0 right but no luck, well I give MDK 9.1 a try.

Ok, I have notebook with Win 98SE, Win2K, WinXP are installed. I manage the booting by using Acronis OS Selector, and works well.

I allocated hda3 for partition ext2 Linux, for MDK Installation, and I create swap about 600Meg (separate partition), my notebook RAM is 528 Meg.

I did the installation like a breeze, smooth, and I chose the boot loader LILO is located at hda3, because the 1st part of HD is being occupied by Acronis OS Selector.

Then when I reboot, the Acronis OS Selector, recognize the New OS, and then I choose Linux, I sucessfully went to LILO menu.

Then when I choose Linux, on the screen, appear several cripts, and then totally blank ------ nothing ---- dark ---- no movement :(

Did I make some mistake during installation?

FYI, my notebook is Asus M3N

Thanks a lot for your help.

Have never used acronis, so......

Where does the startup stop? i.e. which scripts come up and when does it goes blank?

Did you make a boot disk when you installed mandrake and if so can you boot from it?

I never had a problem using Acronis OS before, it worked fine with Windows and Redhat. Did you use it before?

The scripts came up so fast, maybe about after 10th of line and screen goes black.

I didn't make boot disk, with two reasons:
1. My notebook doesn't have floppy disk drive, even I can make in in CD,
2. I don't want, everytime I have to put boot CD in CD Drive, before booting.

Any other suggestion?

Is there anything to do with graphic drive incompatibility?

Thankz,
Kadalz

Right, but got the same problem. Is it anything to do with ACPI. How to disable APM anyway?

Thankz,

press esc at the lilo menu. Then type

linux acpi=off, apm=off

this will turn off both acpi and apm.
