Mandrake 9.1 fresh install, KDE problems?
K, just installed Mandrake 9.1 fresh on its own box (no dual boot windows or anything..) chose KDE as my GUI..
When I log in with the user account I created (and gave various accesses to) it appears to load ok.. but thats the end of the goodness. I moved something into trash, I try to open trash to get it back, the screen flickers a white bar across it and then nothing. same thing happens if i try and go to (for example) google thru the run command, ill type w ww .google.com, it shows a small dialog box saying its starting, then flicker, and nothing. In addition, if I go into Quick Browser menu from the start menu, both the sub-menus of QB have as their only contents "could not read directory" or something to that effect (its crashed really well on the other machine now so I can't get the exact wording till after a reboot) thanks.. cakes.. |
Ok.. so.. now it works.
Why you ask? F'ed if I know.. The install worked great the first time, no errors or anything.. But just for the hell of it I installed a second time. The only, only difference this time was I chose 'default' KDE theme rather than I think Redmond.. and i have icons, i can surf the web.. you name it. now.. to get APT and start gettin softs.. ciao and good linux'in cakes.. |
