Mandrake 9.1 boot loader

Im going to install Mandrake 9.1 in my computer but i have a question:
Im using 2 hard drives:
40 gb for windows xp
60 gb for linux..

can i use the boot loader in the Mbr sector of my harddrive???
On wich hard drive Linux will install the boot loader (Mandrake its not giving me information about that during the installation, so i guess its using a default)

Well apart from not knowing anything about multi hd set ups, normally you would put your bootloader (lilo is default with mandrake) on the first part of the first hard disc - I believe the object being that the bootloader can then see the various OS's to offer you.

This would mean that you would put it on "hda" and let it overwrite the windows bootloader - but if you do that, just remember that if you then have snags booting, you should be able to do a rescue by booting with the mandrake disc(s) hitting F1 when it asks you and then when the non graphic start up opens , type rescue and select the option to re install the windows boot loader - you are then back to where you started, but at least no harm should be done.

regards
John

If Mandrake is not asking you where to install the bootloader, my guess is that it is in the MBR of the first harddrive (i.e. hda).
