Mandrake 9.1?
 
Ok... ive gotten out of Linux for a while but im back... Now im not sure what distro to install... i kno that Mandy 9.1 ws released today but does any 1 kno if it is good or any other distros are good?..

Mandrake is completly the best for beginners. I used it when I was starting out, and it really helped me get the basics down before I switched to Slackware.

Mandrake Linux 9.1 ISO images mirrors for i586 and higher

whats the i586 and all that other stuff mean

(Basically) That's your chip/processor architecture. Most modern pentium/intel and AMD chips are i585 or i686. You can run files designed for your ix86 rating and lower, eg almost all can run i386 binaries :)

It's all to do with increased abilities of processors over time :)
