When I attempt to open the 'Users' button under Mandrake Control Center, System, Users, I get a message as follows: Cannot lock User lib, file /etc/ptmp or /etc/gtmp exist. I was in the middle of doing this procedure and was at the bottom of page 1. I could not find 'Drakwizard', so I'd assumed it was already installed. I also did this procedure and it seemed to work fine. I am not sure if the 'Users' button worked prior to this, but since I was doing things with users, I figured this might be good information to help isolate the problem.

Edit: I found this thread ...evidently I am not alone.

This was fixed by renaming both ptmp and gtmp. Thank-you.
