Unhappy Mandrake 8.2 installation

When I boot up from Mandrake 8.2 cd and hit enter to install,a whole bunch of different things come up. At the end it says:
code: ac aa 84 c0 75 fa 8b 44 24 08 83 f8 04 77 27 83 f8 03 72 22
<0> kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!
it goes no further.I have removed all of my other hard drives so I don't have a conflict with my windows duel boot.) and just left a WD 1.25 Gb hard drive to install Linux on.(So I can choose which HD I want to boot from. rather than adding it to my duel boot.)
My system specs are:
Soyo SY-P4X4000 DRAGON ULTRA Mother board
Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ Processor
PNY verto Geforce Ti 4600 video card
Sony CR-RW Drive
Sony DVD Drive
100Mb Zip drive
Any help would be highly appreciated,
I'm new to Linux.

Jim

probable causes...

* bad cd
* mandrake is trying to load some modules that are crashing.

what would be interesting are the lines above...
code: ac aa 84 c0 75 fa 8b 44

And the one that is left is bootable?

If you downloaded the 8.2 CDs, then check their md5sum values.

Thanks for the reply's. The cd is not downloaded. I installed it into another computer, with the same hard drive and it worked perfectly. I put the hard drive back in my computer and I get to the Linux boot menu and choose Linux. The following is what comes up on the screen:
tty s04 at port 0xc000 (irq=11) is a 16550A
block: 128 slots per queue, batch = 32
RAM DISK driver initialized: 16 RAM disks of 32000K size 1024 blocksize
uniform multi platform E-IDE driver revision 6.31
ide: assuming 33 MHZ system bus speed for PIO modes override with idebus=xx
unable to handle kernel paging requests at virtual address 00030002
printing Eip:
cq28c9e6
*pde = 00000000
Oops: 0000
CPU: 0
EIP: 0010 [<c028c9e6>] not tainted
EFLAGS: 00010292
eax: dffc3fuc ebx:c180b800 ecx: 8000 7808 edx: 00000005
esi: 00030002 edi:c0246817 ebp: c0296ac8 esp: dff63f40
processor swapper cpid:1, stack page= dffc30001
Stack: (I get a bunch of numbers, too many to list)
call trace: (More numbers)
code:ac ......
<0>kernel panic: attempted to kill init!

My Motherboard uses RAID, if that matters. I know in the Linux manual it says it dosn't support IDE RAID, my motherboard manual says it uses ATA RAID and says it supports Linux.
Thanks,
Jim
