Mandrake 8.1 boot hangs 'Loading USB'
Just installed from download CDs, but won't boot from HD.
Last 2 lines before hang actually say:- "Entering non-interactive startup" "Loading USB interface (usb-ohci)". MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU motherboard with Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 and D-Link 530TX NIC the only cards. Keybd and mouse both PS/2. Lexmark Z22 printer on /dev/usb/lp0 printed test page during installation OK. Had the "Bad EIP value" problem and fixed per ML8.1 Errata. Installed Office Workstation, Internet Station, Configuration and Console Tools packages. Only services not set to start at boot are alsa and kudzu. |
Your loading the wrong usb module, "usb-ohci" is for the Ali chipset, for a Via chipset you need to load "usb-uhci"
