Mandrake 6.5 resolution troubles

Hi!

I am using Mandrake 6.5 and things have been going fairly well. I still have a few problems to sort out. The one I am most concerned about right now is the resolution. Originally the resolution was stuck at something like 320X240, but i switched moniters and I believe it is now at 640x480. I find this resolution is not large enough as some of the programs still go off the edge of the screen. How do I change the resolution in KDE or gnome?

I am a newbie so please go easy on me.

Thanks

Wow, that's a really, really old version of Mandrake. I wonder if it actually supports any higher resolution then that. Still, try editing your /etc/X11/XF86Config file with a text editor. Locate "Section Screen" in that file and change the resolution and refresh rate accordingly.

Good luck!

I have xf86config file open and have found the section titled "Screen sections" with four "Section "Screen"" parts in it, the problem is I have no idea how do do this or what to change. Any specific instructions from this point would be greatly appreciated.

Hi again Rafiki!

If you can post your XF86Config file here, I could take a better look into possible changes that you can make to set your resolution. Please, post the hole file. You can open it up with a text editor as gedit or kedit, so you will easily be able to copy-paste it here.

unfortunately i can't copy and paste it to this site as my linux computer also does not have the internet set up and i am using a separate computer to access the internet (i can't copy it onto disk either, none of my disk / CD drives work (i think the connection is messed)
