mandrake 10 (official) and acer laptops
Hi,
I installed Mandrake 10.0 official version and when it's booting up it hangs a great deal when loading something called eth0 (it fails to do this). I try to log on and there are also problems getting on to the internet (I can't basically), what is going on? I also installed Mplayer from the CDs and it came up with a load of errors and I found out that I can't play and DVDs, what can I do to correct this problem? Finally, can anyone recoment a good filesharing program for linux, not being able to get imesh or kazaa for linux (as far as I know) Regards, mat |
eth0 is your Ethernet Card, if no cable (RJ-45...LAN) is connected it will error out. Are you using a router, are you on broadband or DSL, are you using a hub with multiple IP Address witch you own????
What are the errors on your mplayer? file sharing...try news groups, work well for those that know how to use it, similar to FTP..and lots of good ...free stuff |
I am not connected to the internet when I log on but when I connect to the internet (using the uviversities broadband) I still get the error and I cannot connect to the internet.
To start with I had a load of installation errors when I first installed Mplayer and when I get either totem or Mplayer they spew errors. I am using an Acer Aspire 1804WSMi if that makes a difference. Mat |
I have an Acer laptop and its running a broadcom NIC. Maybe you can find some updated drivers.
As far as file sharing goes, I use eDonkey2000. It's better than imesh/kazaa anyways and is also available for linux |
So what do I use for my eth0 driver?
