Arrow Mandrake 10. Installing anything problem.

ok...

I tryed to install xmms, I went to software management/install. and went to install xmms. Then it asked for all the disks. 1 to *4*. I don't have disk 4 and I can't get it. So I couldn't install it. So I Downloaded it (xmms) from their site. Another problem, went to './configure' it. no compilers were found. went back to software management/install. searched for 'gcc'. done the same thing, asked for disk 4. So now I'm lost....

Can someone help!?

I have installed many additional programs from the downloaded Mandrake 10.0 CDs and also don't have disk #4.

Every time it asks for disk 4 I just click cancel, then the next window that confirms that disk #4 is not being inserted.

So far, I have had no installs fail. I have installed xmms this way.

CD #4 is not included in the Download version of Mandrake. It contains some optional/third-party programs that are not needed for an install.

If you want to be sure you have the latest and greatest versions of software for your Mandrake system, just visit Easy Urpmi (see my sig for link) and follow the instriuctions on that page to set up your repositories. It's free, and it's (usually) painless! You then can simply continue to use the Mandrake Control Center for software installation, and it will visit the mirror site(s) you specified to download the packages for you.

If you want to be sure you have everything available on the 4th CD, just make sure you select mirrors for "contrib" and "plf" as well as "main" and "updates". You will then have access to everything that is non-proprietary on even the Powerpack CDs.
