Mandrake 10 Installation/Boot problem

I'm trying to intall a straight out of the box version of Mandrake 10. It freezes (although still mouse movement on-screen) and refuses to eject the CD when installing xojpanel.

If i reset the system and choose to upgrade for the next instal (boot from disc) I get disk 2 requested and then the install completes.

Resetting after this comes up with an options screen with
Linux (something) 4GB
Linux nfab

No matter which mode I choose the system freezes completely just after it says
"Activating Sawp partitions--- [OK]"

Any help greatfully appreciated.

Doesn't look a proper installation to me. Just re-install Mandrake again and choose to format the target partitions too.
