Mandrake 10 install question...
 

I downloaded Mandrake 10.0 a few weeks ago, now it seems the official release is out. Unfortunately I have not installed Linux yet because my machine has been in a less than happy place for awhile.. but the new parts are in so this weekend I am rebuilding...

So my question is......

1. Since the new release is out, should I try to download it again from the site? Is the version available for free download now any different than what WAS there a few weeks ago?

2. Since I dont have the cash to pay the $90 or so for one of the bigger editions with powerpacks etc.. I assume all that software is available out there somewhere, I just need to find it? and if anything else.... its a better learning expirience installing it all after as I find I need something?

Install what you have. Go to the easyurpmi site and pick some mirrors. Update. You can get the "contrib" tree and a source from "plf" and you'll have a lot more stuff than what is on the cdroms. There will still be things like flash and the Nvidia drivers that you'll have to get from their site. Some paid-for software as well will have to be purchased, as that stuff would only be available for free to either a club member or a powerpack set. Contribute if you can, though. They need your help.

I didnt realize it was only $60 for the year for the standard club membership.. I think I might just swing that.

As soon as I get the power co off my back, I'm there for sure. Small price to pay for the fun I'm having.
